INSPIRED TUESDAY – A weekly pause for reflection, to inspire and be inspired.
The deeper we come to understand our innate qualities as human beings, the more clearly we can see, recognize and appreciate them in others. This clarity empowers us to serve our community with greater impact and authenticity.
I’m often asked: “How do I uncover this understanding and what are the tools to get there?” My answer is simple: “Stay curious, and you may be surprised by what unfolds.”
Yet, it’s human nature to shy away from such introspection. Sometimes, we even avoid it all together. Why? Because loosening our grip on what we think we know can feel unsettling. In these moments, we’re not truly listening with an open mind and from an open heart—we’re filtering through the lens of intellect or ego.
When someone shares their struggles, our instinct is often to fix, advise or solve. Whether it’s about changing how they feel or addressing external challenges, the underlying message is the same: “Something needs to change.”
While well-meaning, this response often stems from a belief that humans are inherently broken – that we need external answers because we are not enough as we are. But what if that belief isn’t true? What if we already possess the wisdom and clarity to navigate life’s challenges? What if the invisible mountains we face are simply created by misunderstood beliefs about ourselves?
When we rush to give advice, we risk overshadowing another’s innate ability to find their own way. The most impactful insights don’t come from someone else’s words; they emerge from the quiet, flowing space within us – a space where thought moves freely, and wisdom naturally arises.
So, here’s my best advice: Don’t give advice. Instead, listen deeply. Be present. Hold space. Because true transformation begins when we are trusted to explore our own inner knowing.
